Description

Hand -woven Persian carpet made by flat fabric technique called kelim, It comes from the Shahsavan area in the northwest of Iran. This area is known for the deeply rooted tradition of nomadic textile work. Shahsavan's tribe belongs to the Turkic tribes, that have been creating carpets and textiles with rich geometric and animal décor for centuries for centuries. Their products are characterized by exceptional color scheme, accuracy of composition and symbolism based on nature, Protective features and culture of pastoral life.

This kelim is woven with a high density approximately 160 000 knots per m², which ensures the fineness of the detail and the material resistance. The color range includes traditional natural shades of red, brown, blue, yellow, white and green, created by natural dyes. The dominant motifs are stylized animals, birds and geometric characters, that have a symbolic and protective meaning. The composition is symmetrical, with a central medallion and a rich edge with zigzag patterns.

Kelim is fastened on the rod and can be used as a hanging textile object on the wall. However, thanks to its strength it can be fully functional as a floor carpet. Due to the dimensions it is suitable for smaller interior spaces, entrance hall, reading corners or as a distinctive decorative element.

The fabric is solid, with a short hair at a height of approximately 4 mm, making the carpet easy to maintain and practical in normal use.
