Oil on canvas, signed and dated 1875, gold oval frames
A representative pair of portraits of a man and a woman from the year 1875, made by an oil technique on a canvas. Both paintings are set in the original oval wooden frames with a loss. Signed by red letters at the bottom left: unreadable + dating 1875.
The man is depicted in a dark clothing with a tie, with a distinct expression and realistic feature of features - including the gentle rendition of beard and eyes. The woman is captured in an elegant black garment with blue accessories - including a distinctive bow and a cap decorated with flowers. Both portraits excel in emphasis on individuality and character of the depicted persons, As customary in the second half of the burgher environment 19. century.
State: Images carry small traces of age and wear, evident crackening and local damage to painting (Especially in a female portrait in the scarf area), frames slightly worn out, but stable. Canvas taut on the original blinds, back side with authentic reinforcements.
