Description

Representative pair chairs in a Renaissance style from a massive oak, made in the second half 19. century. Comes from Western Europe, where they served as part of a ceremonial or ceremonial interior. These chairs excel in exceptionally rich and plastic carving, that testifies to the high level of the then carpentry craft.

The dominant element of each chair is a high backrest ended with a carved coat of arms. The coat of arms is divided into four fields with different symbols - stylized heraldic flowers, strom, Animal figure and rhythmic geometric field. Shield surrounds two figures of sea dolls with melted hair, holding fruits and plant shoots, which gives composition a mythological and allegorical character. Above the shield is carved cartridges with pearl, on the sides of the volute elements. This composition adds a monumental expression to chairs and resembles sign shields of the town halls or chateau halls.

On the sides of the backrests and on the legs are located, helix -shaped columns - decorative element, that gives chairs rhythm and grace. Significant carving complements the motifs of flowers, outlines and stylized maskaron at the bottom of the backrest.
