This live and detailed oil on canvas is a village celebration full of figures, music, dancing and social festivities. The painting is made in the style of Flemish Baroque and freely follows the work of David Teniers the Younger (1610–1690), a well -known master of genre scenes with rural festivities and everyday life.
The scene captures the moment of collective merriment in front of the inn - in the center of the events are musicians, dancers and sitting characters, While in the background there are tows of the chateau or city. The work gives the impression of a colorful narrative and at the same time serves as a window for the everyday life of the simple people of that time.
The image is signed in the lower right corner and framed in a richly decorated, gilded. On the back is the Belgian framework label "Huis Zevcke" (Borgerhout, Antwerp).
The work is suitable for collectors, lovers of Baroque painting or as a representative element in the historic interior.
