Description
This design vase is made of colorful metallurgical glass with shades of green, blue, pink and yellow. This beautiful harmony of colors is characteristic of the collection “Rhapsody,” which was proposed by František Zemek v 50. years 20. century for the glass factory in Mstišov. The vase has height 30 cm and weighs approx 950 grams.
František Zemek came from a glass-making family in Zlatno near Lučenka in Slovakia. At the age of fifteen, he started his career at the Inwald glassworks in Dobronín, where he trained as a glass cutter. He then continued his studies at the Vocational Glass School in Železné Brod and subsequently at the University of Applied Arts in Prague under the guidance of Professor Karel Štipel, where he graduated in 1948.
During his career he worked in various glassworks, including those in Teplice and Škrdlovice, and gained experience in metallurgical practice at the school smelter in Chřibská. The last years of his life he worked for Teplické sklo n.p. in Mstišov and for Karlovy Vary glass n.p. (Moser), where he designed the collections "Rhapsody" and "Harmony" which are still popular today.
